Dean Kirby,the owner of Dia Y Noche bar in Epsom,Surrey booked me for a family friend's 50th Birthday to be held in his bar on Fedbruary 24th.
The Birthday boy being Matt,who's daughter Rebecca had passed on to me on Whats app some song suggestions including Chaka Khan-I'm every woman,Sister Sledge-We are family,Four Seasons-Oh what a night,Michael Jackson-Billie Jean,Billy Joel-Uptown Girl,Survivor-Eye of the tiger,David Bowie-Let's dance,Whitney Houston-How will i know,Deniece Williams-Let's hear it from the boy,Lionel Richie-All night long,Earth wind and Fire-Let's Groove,Candi Staton-Young hearts and Cameo-Candy as well as these great tracks some Abba and Luther Vandross were asked for.
There were approximately 90 guests in all who had all arrived by 8/8.15pm,by 9.30pm some of the guests were dancing but all seemed to be enjoying the music,lots of the playlist was played and some other songs added by Billy Ocean,candido,Tom Browne,Gary Byrd and The Jam.Everyone joined in with singing Happy Birthday to Matt as the cake was brought out then Matt did a short thankyou speech and then back to the music.
Towards midnight i played some good end of the night tunes including the Foundations-Build me up buttercup,Elvis Presley-Suspicious Minds and as asked for by Matt Elvis again with 'The Ghetto'.
The final song i played was the classic Neil Diamond track Sweet Caroline to which most of the audience joined in with,a great night with a very good crowd.
