Saturday 6th April 2013,the venue for this party being Leatherhead Golf Club,Kingston Rd, Leatherhead,Surrey, KT22 0EE.
I was doing this disco for another DJ who had a double booking,the occassion being a surprise 60th for a lucky man called Gary,i have worked at Leatherhead golf club a few times in the past and know it's a resonably easy set up,with no stairs which is always a bonus!
The function room is quite large so i needed my bigger JBL speakers (1 k) each which give plenty of sound,after setting up we had nearly twenty minutes before Gary was due to arrive.I played some sixties and seventies soul as background until five minutes before Gary was due to arrive and then shut the sounds down in case he had good hearing!
The story he was told was he was neeting for a drink in the bar some old friends but what we didn't tell him was that all his friends and family made it and a great spread of food was to come as well!
He was speechless when he came in the room and after the initial Stevie Wonder-Happy Birthday and Cliff Richard-Congratulations we went straight into some of his favourites which were Gerry Raffeerty-Baker Street,Diana Ross and Lionel Richie-Endless Love and the Eurythmics-Sweet dreams later songs we played for Gary were some Eagles songs and Adele.Gary's daughter Hailey finished a great evening off with a short speech.
