It was just by chance that i spoke to my new Neighbour about what work i did and we had a chat about the Discos and he needed a reliable Disc Jockey for their annual party opening their season in style.I have worked at the club in the past and enjoyed it as it's very local,a reasonable load up for the equipment and a friendly crowd at the past times when i had played there. As with other parties at the Epsom Hockey Club several members where already having a drink in the bar when we arrived to set up the disco.
There is an area at the back of the hall where all my equipment fits in rather well,it's only a small hall but quite wide which suits my set up,the bar being on the left and the cloakrooms at the other end of the hall on the left. The Discos at Epsom Hockey/Cricket club do not need a slow build up like a wedding or low key party, members were asking for different songs as soon as I'd set up,mainly chart but 'Cheese' was in top demand and songs from Abba,Jason Donovan,Kylie Minogue,Rick Astley,The Nolan Sisters,Boney M,The Bee Gees,Racey to name a few.
Most of the 70 or so guests which just about filled the small club danced the night away until ending time of 1am,towards the end some more new chart songs were played and some more requests including some classic end of evening songs and anthems including The Fatback Band- found Loving,James-Sit down,Dexy's Midnight Runners-Come on Eileen and Frank Sinatra-New York,New York ending off with The Baywatch Theme which is a club favourite.
