Max booked me for his 70th Birthday party which was held at the Tolworth Goals .Max,being a good neighbour of mine gave me a list of his special songs which had a great mixture of soul, Reggae and some rare groove. There were about 65 guests attending Max's party mainly of the 60 to 70 age group but with a few younger ones. Some early warm up tunes I played included Gregory Isacs-Night Nurse, Denis Brown-Love has found it's way, Jesse Greene-Nice and slow and Patrice Rushen-Forget me nots. When more guests arrived I played a Reggae set including Morgan Heritage-Down by the river, Janet kay-silly games,Ub 40-Kingston town and Sugar Minnot's good thing going.Later in the evening many of the crowd were up to Betty Wright's the clean up woman,Maxwell-Acension,James Brown-I feel good and make it funky.A Seventies set including Billy Ocean,Earth, wind and fire,Candi Staton and McFadden and Whitehead followed.Max said a few words to thank his guests and a special mention for Pete a good friend of his who sadly passed away earlier in the year,I played Pete's favourite song Atlantic starr and circles.the evening ended off with some Cameo-Candy,Jurasalema,Roy Ayers and Maze.
