Deb Longhurst 60th Birthday

Deb booked me for her 60th Birthday party at Ashtead Cricket club where she was to celebrate her Birthday with friends and family. The evening was to be a fun fancy dress. Deb previously booked me for her 50th Birthday ten years before!

She sent me her play list which included S Club, Four seasons, Elvis Presley,Lu Lu,Tom Jones, Billy ocean,Stones,Abba,Madness,Earth wind and Fire, One Direction, Proclaimers and Queen, The Monkees,Soft Cell,Kool and the Gang plus some Wham.The fancy dress was a spectacle and everybody enjoyed themselves and Debs has promised to book me for her 70th if we're both up to it!

Lauren and Tim's wedding Woodlands Park Hotel

Lauren and Tim had their wedding celebration at the Woodlands Park Hotel which is near Oxshott in Surrey, I have DJ'd there before for another wedding so know the set up.

They hired me to play in the Prince of Wales suite, which is the largest of the suites available. We arrived about 6.15pm to start unloading the equipment, once we had unloaded and re parked the van there was a five minute wait for the last of the families speeches.

Setting up by 7.15pm we were all ready to go, a few background tunes from Lauren and Tim's list was followed by the cutting of the cake and their first special song by Ronan Keating-when you say nothing at all which was followed by Stevie wonder's _Isn't she lovely,other guests then joined in then the faster songs started with Whitney Houston's I wanna dance with somebody starting things off.

Rihanna and We found love followed ,a mixture of dance, Motown, Seventies Disco followed. Some cheesy wedding songs were played which all went down well including The Firm-star trekin' Peter Andre-Mysterious girl,Dexy's, Abba-Dancing Queen and The Macarena(Of course!)Many guests asked for Wham so I'm your man and Wake me up before you go go sufficed.

The evening ended with Madness-It must be love and Frank Sinatra's-New York, New York.

Karen and Paul's 50th

Karen and Paul's 50th Birthday

Karen booked me for her joint 50th Birthday party with her husband, Paul to be held at the Royal Oak pub in New Malden,Surrey.Karen teaches a spin class at my Gym and is a great fan of Eighties music so the theme of the evening is Eighties fancy dress. Lots of guests had arrived by 7.45pm which was great as the disco was finishing at quite an early time of 11pm because of the local residents. On Karen's play list were Wham,Bronski beat,Communards,Human League,Soft Cell,Duran Duran,Prince,Grandmaster Flash and ABC from the Eighties and some Nineties/Noughties sounds like Jinny,The Shamen,Black Box,Technotronic,Take That and Faithless.A few background tunes were played from my Summer collection including Banarama,Central Line,DJ Jazzy Jeff and Abba's Summer night city.Karen's daughter Tia is a big Michael Jackson fan so i played Rock with you,Pretty Young Thing,I want you back(Jackson 5) and Blame it on the boogie. Towards the end Stevie Wonder's Happy Birthday went down a treat with nearly all the guests joining in,to finish some chessey songs with the Macarena,Bucks Fizz's making your mind up and Wham,s classic I'm your man.A good time was had by all

DJ for 70th birthday party at Cheam Sports Club

Nigel contacted me regarding his 70th Birthday party at Surbiton Golf club

The theme would be a Sixties and Seventies selection of music with some dinner background music from Gene Pitney,Sony and Cher,The Bee Gees,Sandie Shaw and The Mamas and Papas.When the guests had finished eating Nigel came up and did a short thankyou speech with some prizes for the best dressed guests.The dancing began with the Four Seasons Oh what a night followed by some more Seventied dance classics.Switching to the Sixties includes The Beatles,Sam Cooke,Chuck Berry.A Spanish section was slotted in with Ricky martin,Camila Cabello and Shawn Mendes and a special Italian guest called Salvatora danced to Rosemary Cloney's Mambo Italiano.The night ended with Nigels favourite Bog Seeger song,Old time rock and roll,Frank Sinatra's fly me to the moon and the late great Jeff Beck with Hi ho silver lining.

New Years Eve 2022

The comrade club in Epsom,Surrey booked me for their New years eve party,I'd worked for them the year before but for the Christmas Eve disco.

   A good number of guests had arrived ,a mixture of family and friends,we were booked to play from 8.30pm until 12.20am to see the new year in,after some warm up tracks and the raffle many guests started to dance ,i started with mainly Eighties with the likes of Human league,Madeness,Ryan Paris and Dolce Vita,Atlantic star's circles,Jocelyn Brown and Michael Jackson.

 Some requests for some Reggae and Motown came in so along with some Seventies disco sounds(Bee Gees,Billy Ocean,Gloria Gaynor) John Holt,Sugar Minott,Peter Andre then Diana Ross,The Four Tops and the Isley Brothers.

  New Year soon came round with the traditional Old lang Syne folled by Pilot's January,Monkees Daydrem Believer,Neil Diamond's Sweet Carolie and ending up with Oasis-Wonderwall and New York,New York by Frank Sinatra


40th Birthday party in Kingston

Duncan contacted me regarding a booking at the Bishop out of residence pub along the river in Kingston,Surrey.

  His wife ,Diana was to celebrate her 40th Birthday on September 3rd in the upstairs function room ,I went to meet Duncan and Diana a month or so before the party to see where to set up and  look at the parking arrangements(lucky I did as as parking was very limited)

 All went well on the night with the party starting at 7pm ,Diana had chose a selection of songs including Dandy Warhols-Bohemian like you,Ce lo Green,The source featuring Candi Staton and You've got the love,Lady Ga Ga-Born this way,Maroon 5-Move like jagger,Madisson Avenue-Don't call me baby,Aha-Take on me,B52's-Love Shack,Jessie J-Domino and Madissonn Avenue-Don't call me baby.

    Most of the guests arrived by 7.45pm as the party finished at 11pm beacause of the residents ,I played some classic soul and Motown and of course some Cheesey tunes like Peter Andre's mysterious girl and Abba ,a few newer songs went down well until we had to go home.Diana's final song was a good sing a long with the Beatles classic Hey Jude.

Surprise 40th Birthday party

New Mixer

Peter found me on Google and booked me for his son's suprise 40th Birthday party to be held at Cheam sports club,Peaches close,Cheam.

Myself and my 'Roadie' arrived at 6.30pm to set up for Barry's arrival at 7.30pm,the plan was Barry would walk round with his Dad(Peter) and Mum ,thinking it was a Birthday dinner for his Mum.

The plan worked well as Barry arrived to the tune of Stevie Wonder's Happy Birthday I could tell he was truly suprised!

Peter had sent me a play list of Barry's favourite's (and his) including oasis,The killers,Ocean colour secene,Nicklback and tom Petty these were played along with some new songs early on.

As the evening livened up Barry's daughter, Jorgie and others took to the floor for Gala's Free from Desire which is a favourite amongst Crystal Palace fans.A few more from the play list were played including some Creedence Clearwater Revival,other requests on the night included Luther Vandross,Sister sledge and a few Motown tracks.Towards the end Gala was played again with some Oasis to conclude a really good night.

Disco for New Victoria hospital

New Victoria hospital booked me for they're Beach party summer bash at Surbiton golf club in Surrey.

I have worked for these people before and they are a lively lot varying in ages from 20 to 60.

As the evening was so beutiful most of the guests sat outside to start to view the magnificient golf course and enjoy they're drinks which were all on the tab!

  I started the music just before 7.15pm with most of the guests arriving by 8pm,I tried some new mixing for the background with Cron Heights affair-You gave me love,David Joseph-You can't hide your love , Oliver Chatham-Get down Saturday night followed by Shalamar's Take that to the bank.Lots of Summer songs to follow including Atlantic Starr-Every body's got Summer,Beach Boys,Central Line-Sunshine,The Don Henley's -Boys of Summer,Katrina and the waves-Walking on Sunshine and Lonyo with the Summer of love.

Most guests started coming back inside by 9.30pm as it was gradually getting darker and they were more in a mood to dance,lots of Nineties dance classics such as Black Box,Ultra Nate with some Eighties from Lionel Riche with Dancing on the ceiling,Luther Vandross, Seventies too from Abba,Billy Ocean,Donna Summer and the Four Seasons.For the older guests I played some Motown followed by The Fat back band and I found Loving, Madness and It must be love with the popular sing a long song to finish with Niel Diamond's Sweet Caroline.

  Hopefully we'll be back there next year.

Late night dancers

50th Birthday Party

Radford contacted me prior to his wife(Joanna) birthday bash to be held at the Anglers public house in Walton upon Thames in the first floor function room.

 I met Radford a month or so before to look at where to set up and to meet who i would be working for!

The staff on the day were really freindly and informed me about the parking arrangements and exactly where to set up on the night

 On the night,June 11th the weather was brilliant and regular uysers of the Anglers were sitting by the river enjoying there drinks.

 Radford and Joanna and a couple of other family guests arrived about 7.30pm and we had nearly set up by then ,I started playing some background music then went staight into the summer sounds as it was such a glorious night,these included Kool and the gang-Too hot,Lonyo-Summer of love,Central line-Walking into sunshine,Pm Dawn-set adrift on memory bliss and Martha nad the vandellas-Heatwave.

  Most of the guessts arrived by 8.30pm and things gradually livened up,a very entertining night especially as it was fancy dress fro Seventies and Eighties,with some impressive outfits including Adam Ant,Tom Cruise and Jeff Lyne!

 A great play list was given to me from Radford which included Bee Gees-Staying alive,michael Jackson-Billie Jean and Beat it,Adam and Ants a few palyed for the runner up in the fasncy dress,Abba-Mama Mia,Dancing Queen,Waterloo,Aha-The sun always shines on TV and Take on me,Madonna-Live a virgin and Holiday,Duran Duran-Planet earth and Sister Sledge-We are family and many others.

   There was a lot of interest when my Seventies set came on including Jo Tex,Bee Gees,Edwin Star,Abba,Sister Sledge and Queen.

  Radford had a favourie inthe Beastie Boys-Fight for your right and the Birthday girl joined in,the last song was at 11.40pm as any longer would annoy the residents!

    The guests went home (in the end) and all seemed tom have a really great night.
